Fabinho to Liverpool: Reds have got ‘three players in one’ from Brazilian transfer
LIVERPOOL’s signing of Fabinho from Monaco is a smart piece of business, claims European football expert James Horncastle.
Liverpool confirmed the arrival of Fabinho on a long-term contract this evening.
The Brazilian will cost an initial £43.7million and is the club’s first signing of the summer.
Fabinho has spent the majority of his recent career in a defensive midfield role.
But he can also play at right-back, which will have attracted Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp even more, claims Horncastle.

There is a player who is versatile, who can play in midfield, who can play as a full-back as well
“It would be a great signing,” Horncastle said before hearing confirmation of the deal on BBC 5 Live.
“I think Fabinho was obviously linked with a move away, thought he was going to get a move, last summer off the back of winning the league with Monaco, reaching a Champions League semi-final.
“I think he was told he had to stay, unlike some of the other players he accepted that, knuckled down and has had a very good season.
“I think it would be a very good replacement for Emre Can who is expected to leave.

“I think the comparison there is quite interesting, because there is a player who is versatile, who can play in midfield, who can play as a full-back as well.
“You’re getting two, three players for one in Fabinho.
“If that does come to pass, it’s a very smart move.”
