Middle-aged man hacked by gang inside his house

The police on Tuesday arrested two persons, including a history-sheeter, in connection with the murder of a middle-aged man at Irinjalakuda.

Abhinand, 20, of Karuvannur, and Sagav, 19, of Kizhuthani were arrested in connection with the murder of Vijayan, 58, of Canal Base, near Irinjalakuda, on Sunday night. Abhinand is an accused in four murder cases.

A gang barged into Vijayan’s house by 11 p.m. on Sunday to retaliate for a minor clash with Vijayan’s son Vineeth earlier on the day .

The nine-member gang reached Vijayan’s house in three motorbikes, armed with swords and iron pipes, in search of Vineeth. When Vijayan tried to stop them, they hacked him. The gang also attacked Vijayan’s wife Ambika, 52, and mother-in-law Kousalya, 70.

Vijayan, who was critically injured in the attack, succumbed to injuries in a hospital. He was an attender in the Kerala Solvent and Extracts, (KSE), Irinjalakuda.

The police had earlier arrested five members of the gang. They are looking for three more people, including a person who hatched the conspiracy.
