Anna Mae Reiff, 92, of Farley, passed away at her home in Farley on Monday, May 28, 2018. She was reunited in heaven with her husband, Robert. Friends and relatives of Anna Mae may call from
2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m., a CDA rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. and
the Farley American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley with the Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Concelebrating will be the Rev. Douglas Loecke and the Rev. John Ptacek. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley.
She was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Bernard H. and Mary (Shulte) Luehrsmann. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School in Dyersville and also was a graduate of the former Bayless Business College in Dubuque. After graduating, she worked in her father and brother's medical practice. On Sept. 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Reiff at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1988.
The couple owned and operated the Reiff Funeral Homes and Ambulance Service, where she played an active role behind the scenes in both businesses. She devoted most of her time to raising their 10 children. She enjoyed card games, bowling, and coffee with her friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing many games and ensuring their math skills through card games.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, the Farley American Legion Auxiliary and the Farley Catholic Daughters of the America's Presentation Court No. 1460.
She is survived by her nine children, Nola (Charlie) Nadermann of Delhi, Bede (Dan) Willenbring of Dyersville, Mavonne (Tom) Gansen of Peosta, Robert Jr. (Mary Ann) Reiff of Independence, Joseph (Peg) Reiff of Cascade, and Bernie (Debra) Reiff, Julie (Pat) Simon, Mary (Mike) Hoffmann and Sharon (Loren) Schmitt, all of Farley; a son-in-law, Robin Ragen of Ottumwa; 43 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda Ragen, on Aug. 18, 2016; her twin granddaughters, Jill Simon, in infancy, and Janelle Simon, on Feb. 26, 1993; a grandson, Chad Nadermann, on Sept. 9, 2014; a brother, Dr. Bernard C. (Blanche) Luehrsmann; four sisters, Irene Luehrsmann, in infancy, Beatrice (Harold) Loes, Dorothy Luehrsmann and Stella (Schwartz) Pettinger; brother and sisters-in-law, Julian (Luella "Babe") Reiff and Margene (Urban) Besler; and many nieces and nephews.
