Buddhist in Singapore vows to pay back to society

Nagpur: The Buddhist followers in Singapore have formed a socio-religious group, embracing the wisdom and vision of Bharatratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, to serve the society. The group, assembled under the banner of ‘Buddhist in Singapore’, in the first week of May, celebrated the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Dr Ambedkar with multi-hued activities.
During the celebrations, the group showcased a range of activities after making a beginning with solemn prayers to the Tathagata Gautam Buddha. The activities, which had packed the schedules, included speeches reflecting on the works and wisdom of Buddha and the sect apart from it’s great leaders and their contributions. Melodious songs and games were also organized for enthralling the audience especially the younger generations.

The children presented their visions and understandings on the life of Tathagata Gautam Buddha, Phule and Ambedkar. A quiz contest was also held for the participants on the great luminaries of the Buddhist religion and their leaders.

A documentary film on the teachings and wisdom of Lord Buddha too was exhibited for the devotees to imbibe such qualities in their routine day-to-day lives. A special ‘upasak and upasika conversation’ was also held where the participants expressed their thoughts on the contributions of the Lord Buddha, Phule and Ambekar and their roles behind the social transformation of India.

A circulatory library was also started on the occasion of the meet held to observe the birth anniversaries of the great preacher Lord Buddha and other reformers like Phule and Ambedkar.
