Flying school gets green signal for conducting training courses

Decks have been cleared for conducting flying training courses in the city. City-based flying training institution, Alchemist Aviation Private Limited, at Sonari airport, has received the green signal to start the courses.

Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gave the certificate of approval has been received from for conducting flying training courses (private pilot license –PPL and commercial pilot license- CPL).

“It is really a major achievement for us. We have got the certificate of approval from May 2018 till May 2023 from DGCA as per the Aircraft Act 1934 for conducting flying training courses. We received the approval letter today.”

“We had applied for the approval in 2015 and after series of inspection and examination of our infrastructure and records the DGCA has granted us final approval. We want to offer best our expertise to the aspirants,” said Mrinal Kanti Paul, the accountable manager of M/s Alchemist Aviation Private Limited.

At present there are 23 such training cradles across the country and this will be first in the country.  The institution has a simulator, classroom, library and a hangar. There are three Cessna 152, 1 Cessna 172 and 1 Piper Seneca in possession of the flight training school, which will be used for the training. “Those who used to aspire to be pilot had to spend extra amount as accommodation expense and study such courses in metro cities. Now they can get the courses right in the state itself. Career as a commercial pilot is booming with high demand of commercial pilots due to regional connectivity scheme of the Union government,” added the Alchemist official. “An aspirant can expect to get a minimum monthly salary of Rs 1.25 lakh after successfully completing 18 months course at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. However, in  case of SC/ST candidates the entire course fee would be waived (reimbursed through scholarship scheme of Union government ).” “We will be giving priority to Jharkhand candidates during admission,” said Capt Parag Goyal, chief instructor at the institute. The institution is offering seats for 50 candidates and the eligibility is intermediate in science (physics, chemistry and mathematics) along with medical examination certificate from a DGCA approved physician (chest X Ray, ECG, EEG, ENT and eye vision test) with a minimum age being 17 years.  “We want to further expand our reach. Our talks are in final phase with state government for using the abandoned airstrip facility at Deogarh for training. We hope to start training from Deogarh by end of this year, which would open doors of avenues for tribal aspirants,” said Mrinal Kanti Paul.
