LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Ten states back Arkansas' argument that legislators should not be forced to provide documents or testify regarding a state law that prevents cities and counties from banning discrimination against LGBT people. The states on Tuesday asked to file a brief in support of Arkansas before the state Supreme Court, which last year halted efforts to seek the documents and testimony from the two legislators who sponsored the 2015 law.
PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a passenger in a pickup truck being chased by police in northern Oklahoma was wounded when the truck's driver and an officer exchanged gunfire. The OSBI says police in Ponca City were pursuing the truck about 7 p.m. Sunday when the driver crashed the vehicle, then got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the officer, who returned fire. Agent Steve Tanner says a man in the truck was struck in the head and was treated and released at a hospital.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Sonic Drive-In is joining fast-food industry trends allowing customers to get what they want even faster thanks to smartphones. The Oklahoman reports the Oklahoma City-based chain has been testing an app that allows consumers to order food and drinks and pick a location and pickup time before they arrive. The app has been tested Lafayette, Louisiana, and will be available in Oklahoma City by the end of May.
BLANCHARD, Okla. (AP) - A central Oklahoma man accused of killing his father and disguising it as a suicide is now free on $400,000 bond. The Lawton Constitution reports that 37-year-old James Brooks is charged with first-degree murder. He could face the death penalty, life without parole or a life sentence if convicted. Brooks is accused of killing Timothy Brooks in August 2012. He'd been held in jail on no bond since his initial court appearance in March. Records indicate Brooks returns to court July 23.
