Ruckus at YSRCP booth-level meet

Party leaders bicker in presence of MP

A booth-level meeting of YSR Congress Party turned ugly with representatives from a couple of wards in the south constituency levelling charges against each other, here on Monday. MP Vijaya Sai Reddy and other senior leaders had to intervene to settle the issue.

The ruckus started when YSRCP State youth wing secretary M. Raju levelled charges of high-handedness against John Wesley, party coordinator of south constituency and senior leader Kola Guruvulu.

Supporters of Mr. Wesley and Mr. Guruvulu, who were present at the meeting retorted back and tried to subvert the meeting. Before it could turn ugly, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy intervened and calmed both the factions.

Sources in the party said Mr. Wesley, who has been eyeing the post of general secretary or party spokesperson, has been trying to create problem within the party, ever since he was denied the posts at the State-level party’s plenary.

“It was decided to give the post to standing MLAs or senior leaders who are MLA aspirants. And this appears to have irked Mr. Wesley,” said a senior leader.

Mr. Wesley was, however, not available for his comments.
