Man Utd transfer news: Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino sanctions Toby Alderweireld deal
TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino is happy to sell Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United, claims Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.
Alderweireld has been linked with a move away from Tottenham after refusing a new contract offer.
The Belgian is out of contract next summer and has a clause that if Spurs trigger a one-year extension, he can leave for just £25million in 2019.
Bridge claims there has already been talks with United for the sale of Alderweireld and he says Pochettino has sanctioned a deal.
“We can look now and say that there are early talks between Tottenham and Manchester United,” he said on the Transfer Talk podcast.

I’m also told Mauricio Pochettino is happy for the sale to go through
“Manchester United at the moment are the only club to make a serious interest in Alderweireld.
“Obviously Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are at the back for United and it wasn’t a great performance was it from Jones in the FA Cup final.
“It looks like Manchester United are going to do their business early.
“I’m told Spurs will be looking for quite a big fee for Alderweireld, maybe around £75m.

“They were looking at the likes of Virgil van Dijk leaving Southampton for Liverpool and they’re saying ‘look, Toby Alderweireld is one of the best, maybe even the best, defenders in the Premier League, so we want big money for him’.
“They will look to negotiate this summer and I’m also told Mauricio Pochettino is happy for the sale to go through.
“He loves the Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez partnership. So Alderweireld, I’ve got to say exclusively to this podcast, I can’t see him saying at Tottenham.
“As it stands Manchester United are the club that want him, they are the frontrunners.”
