Bhopal: Rape survivour on hunger strike citing police laxity

Bhopal: Fed up with running from pillar to post for getting justice a rape survivour started a hunger strike at Kamla Park in the state capital from Monday in the state capital. She had even tried end her life by consuming poison outside CM House as a mark of protest and to bring attention her plight in January 2018 but to no avail.

SHO Shymla Hills Bharat Pratap Singh said, “Rape survivour has started her hunger strike to demand justice as accused has been given bail. Police has done its job by registering a case and producing him in the court. If the court has given him bail we have to abide by it. Police cannot intervene further as the matter is pending in the court. ”

She was raped in 2014 by her neighbour who is out on bail in the case. She has complained that the accused is now forcing her to withdraw her case and often harasses her. After a gap of four months, since her bid to end her life in front of the CM’s house, she again trouped to state capital to register her protest against administration, in vain. She continued with her hunger strike till the filing of this report.
