Second signing...

Liverpool will announce a second signing this week, according to journalist Matt Critchley.

The Reds announced they had struck a deal with Ligue 1 club Monaco that would see Brazilian midfielder Fabinho move to Liverpool on July 1.

But there could be a second arrival in the pipeline.

“Expect at least one more arrival at Liverpool this week after Fabinho’s move from Monaco was confirmed earlier tonight,” Critchley tweeted.

Fans have been quick to speculate who the mystery signing will be with Nabil Fekir, Alisson or Jan Oblak the three most prominent names.

Nabil Fekir says he will not discuss leaving Lyon until after the World Cup.

Liverpool are thought to be keen to follow up Fabinho’s arrival on Merseyside by securing the services of Lyon captain Fekir.

Fekir provided an update on his future after scoring in France’s 2-0 friendly win over the Republic of Ireland on Sunday night.

"If Fabinho will be my future team-mate? I will discuss about my future after the World Cup, not before," said the 24-year-old. "If I will sign somewhere before the World Cup? Honestly, I don't know."

Fekir scored 18 goals and eight assists in Ligue 1 this season as Lyon secured Champions League qualification.

Fabinho: Joining Liverpool was simple

Fabinho says his decision to join Liverpool was a simple one because of the desire that the club showed to sign him.

The Reds confirmed a £43.7million deal last night - inclusive of several performance-related add-ons - to conclude a 12-month chase of the Monaco midfielder.

Arsenal and Manchester United are both said to have had interest in the midfielder, who had already previously earned attention from Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

But he says it was a simple choice to pick Liverpool as his destination given the desire of Jurgen Klopp and co. to bring him in.

In an exclusive interview with RMC Sport, Fabinho said: “The contact, it's been a few weeks. I spoke with people from the club, with the coach, which gave me a lot of confidence.

“I wanted to go to a club that really wanted me, which showed great interest. With all that, it was easy to say yes. I thought a little and told my agent that he could continue the transaction.

“I am very happy that it is done from the beginning of the transfer window. It was three, four weeks that I spoke with them.”

How Liverpool could line-up

Jurgen Klopp has made a rapid start to Liverpool's summer transfer spending after the club announced Monaco star Fabinho had signed in a £43million deal.

The Brazilian ace has joined Naby Keita on the list of arrivals, just days after the Reds' season drew to a close following the Champions League final.

Liverpool enjoyed a strong season from their midfield trio last season but will be heavily bolstered by the new arrivals.

Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will battle it out for potentially just one spot if Keita and Fabinho start every game in their most comfortable positions.
