Employability centre to be set up in Wayanad: Minister

Inaugurates women’s hostel of govt ITI

Minister for Excise and Labour T.P. Ramakrishnan has said that an employment exchange, employability centre, and a career guidance centre will be set up in the district this academic year.

Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed women’s hostel building of the KNM government ITI here on Tuesday, Mr. Ramakrishnan said the new institutions would help to provide better opportunities to jobseekers of the hill district .

“Every year, more than 75,000 students are completing studies from various institutes under the Labour Department and courses in those institutions will be upgraded as needed,” Mr. Ramakrishnan said, adding that a skill development programme would be organised for students at the Kerala Academy of Skill Excellence to ensure jobs to them. One more batch of Hospitality Management course would be started at the ITI this year. The 584.9 sq m hostel building was constructed at ₹1 core.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for an excise complex at Mananthavady, Mr. Ramakrishnan said that avoiding liquor consumption was an easy way to resist lifestyle diseases.
