An airplane belonging to German leisure airline Condor was compelled to opt for an emergency landing at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa after hitting birds.

The incident happened shortly following take off on Tuesday around 9.30 a.m.

The flight was bound for Zanzibar from Moi International Airport, Mombasa. One of the sources mentioned that two crows entered in one of the engines of the aircraft.

The airplane was however, capable of making a perfectly safe landing at the airport and there were no injuries of passengers or staff, as per Coast Police boss Noah Mwivanda.

Mr. Mwivanda mentioned that there was a bird strike but all the passengers were absolutely safe. When a leading news media house visited the airport, passengers were seen heading back to their hotels.

One of the crew members not authorised to speak to the media said they will take another plane Wednesday.

The plane was taking tourists to Zanzibar for holiday.

Police said the incident happened shortly after take-off from the Kenyan airport at 9.30am.

A source said two crows flew into one of the plane’s engines.

The plane landed safely at the airport and there were no injuries, Mr Mwivanda said.

One of the crew members, who sought anonymity because he is not authorised to give media briefings, said the tourists will take another plane to Zanzibar tomorrow.
