UPDATE: A Lynchburg man wanted on attempted murder charges turned himself in to police Monday night, according to a Lynchburg Police Department news release.

Christopher James Michael Phelps, 27, was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, police said. He was denied bond, according to jail records.

Phelps is charged with brandishing a firearm, discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm, attempted murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, police said.

According to police, the case is active and ongoing.

EARLIER: Lynchburg police are searching for a man wanted on attempted murder charges, according to a Lynchburg Police Department press release.

Christopher James Michael Phelps, 27, of Lynchburg, is wanted after shots were fired during an argument at 4602 Hartford St. early Saturday, police said. Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 4:18 a.m.  

No one was struck by the gunfire and no one was injured, police said.

Phelps’ whereabouts are currently unknown. He is wanted for brandishing a firearm, discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm, attempted murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, police said.

According to police the case is active and ongoing.
