Justice JS Narang dead at 73

The former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice (retired) JS Narang, who was appointed to head a Commission of Enquiry to probe into alleged irregularities in sand mining auctions in the state by the Punjab Government, passed away at a private hospital in Mohali on Sunday afternoon after a brief illness.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has condoled the sad demise. The 73-year-old Justice Narang is survived by his wife Raminder Narang and two sons — Amitjit Narang and Ripjit Narang.

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, Capt Amarinder said that Justice Narang was an eminent legal luminary, an able administrator, a distinguished jurist and above all a fine human being with the qualities of head and heart.

He said that with the death of Justice Narang, a void has been created in the legal fraternity, which is difficult to be filled in near future.

The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give enough strength to the family members, relatives and friends to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

According to the family sources, the cremation of Justice Narang would take place on May 28 (Monday) at 4:30 pm in Sector 25 electric crematorium.
