‘Puthu Pulari’, a show of budding talent

With over 350 works by 200 budding artistes ranging in age from five to 74, Puthu Pulari, an art exhibition organised by the Tint Academy for Art, has got under way at Museum auditorium.

From crayon to pencil drawing to oil painting, the exhibition has on display works by the students of the academy in various medium.

The works of children in the 8-14 age group have been arranged in the building housing the 3D theatre, near the children’s park, on the premises. Besides works in crayon, watercolour and acrylic, terracotta sculptures are also on display here. Miniature chalk sculptures with interesting themes add to the novelty.

Mural paintings

Paintings by older children and adults are on display at the auditorium, above the KCS Panicker gallery. An entire wall is dedicated to mural art — the themes mostly being divinity, exceptions being one of the fictional character Loki, and of a scene from nature. Some of them are well-detailed.

A few works catch the eye, at times because of the subject, and at times because of their execution.

A sari-clad woman pouring milk on a Shivalinga, a silhouette of a naked woman, and a pair of legs extending from a white skirt look interesting.

One painting shows a seated naked woman, and around her are imprints of blood-stained hands. Another has a group of women looking out at the world from behind their veils. Landscapes, birds, nature, faces… all have been captured by the artistes.

Sale of copies of works on display has also been arranged.

The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. till May 31.
