BHOPAL: In a broad daylight burglary, eight women rag-pickers broke open the shutter of a trophy shop situated in Peer Gate and made away with three quintal brass goods worth Rs 2.5 lakh on Saturday night.
The shop owner 33-year-old Ali Azhar a resident of BDA Colony in Koh-e-Fiza said, “It is very shocking that despite the daylight they managed to break the so strong shutter and run away with so heavy goods made of brass within the duration of 5 minutes.”
The incident came to light with the help of CCTV footage on Sunday. The footage showed that eight women including four sari clad girls pretended themselves to be sleeping outside the shop. They got into the shop at around 7.20 am and finished their work within 15 minutes.
The gang worked like professionals and took just 2-3 minute to break open the shutter. They also broke the CCTV cameras after spotting them.
SHO of Kotwali Ashish Dhruve said, “We are trying to establish the identity of the women. As per clothes they were wearing and they look like garbage picker as they had kept all the stolen 25 idols in sack they were carrying. A case is registered under section 454, 380 of IPC.”
