
Man accused of trying to bring illegal gun on plane

COLONIE - A 34-year-old Brunswick, Georgia man faces a misdemeanor for allegedly possessing a handgun while trying to board a flight at Albany International Airport over the weekend.
Jerome Watkins Jr. was arrested shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday while he was checking in for a flight at the Southwest Airlines ticket counter at the airport, according to the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
He did not have a valid New York state pistol permit for the 9 mm handgun, said authorities.
Watkins was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
He was booked on the offense and released on $200 bail pending a July 11 court appearance.
