BHOPAL: Semi classical singing and Mohiniattam enchanted the audience at Tribal Museum on Sunday under a programme series ‘Uttarakdhikar’
The event began with the performance of Pt. Balvant Puranik and his troupe. He started off with kajri songs ‘Ghir Aayi Ho Kali Badariya …,’ and ‘Sawan Ki Ritu Aayi Sakhi Ri Sajan Ghar Nahi Aaye…’.
It was followed by Dadra ‘Humse Na Bolo Jau-Jau Saiyan…’ and Meera Bhajan ‘Vanshiwale Ko Jane Na Dungi…,’ in Bhajani Theka taal. He ended with ‘Muraliya Baje Yamuna Ke Teer…,’ in raga Bhairavi.
Puranik, who is disciple of R H Khandkar and Pt Bhismdev Vedi, was accompanied by Manoj Patidar on tabla, Majid Khan on harmonium, P G Nevalkar and Uday Chincholkar on tanpura.
The concert concluded with the performance of Mohniattam danseuse Swapna Rajendra Kumar and her troupe. She began with ‘Devi Stuti’ in raga Saveri and aadi taal. After that, she presented ‘Shabhanjika’ for 40 minutes which left the audience spellbound.
