SRINAGAR: At least three
Army personnel, including an officer, were injured in an IED blast at
Sugan area of south Kashmir's
Shopian district early on Monday.
Sources said terrorists targeted a patrol party of the
44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), in a clear rejection of the unilateral ceasefire observed by security forces. They also fired at the jawans, causing injuries to three of them. The injured were admitted to a hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
Security forces launched a search and cordon operation in the area soon after the attack. Civilians have alleged that the Army damaged at least 60 houses in the anti-terror operation.
On Sunday, two people - an Army jawan of the 50 RR and a civilian - were killed when terrorists attacked an Army camp at Kakapora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Pulwama SSP Mohammad Aslam Choudary said the terrorist fired upon an Army camp late on Sunday night, triggering a gunfight.
