Sundargarh women ransack liquor depot

Hundreds of women of Kireilaga area under the Talsara police station ransacked a country liquor depot located at their village on Sunday.

The women have been protesting country liquor sale in their area for the last two years under the banner of Mahila Mada Birodhi Manch and the licence renewal of the country liquor depot at their locality had incensed them.

They were protesting it for over a year and when they found no cooperation from the administration and police, they ransacked the depot.

On Sunday morning, they organised  a meeting at their village and later, marched towards  the liquor depot and ransacked it at the  presence of  Talsara MLA  Prafulla Majhi.

The  agitated  women also  damaged all the stocks in the depot in  presence  of  police.

“We  are  yet  to  receive  any  FIR  in  this matter,”  said Sub Inspector, Talsara  police  station K Kerketta. 

“When we receive an FIR, we will take appropriate action,” Kerketta added.
