Unemployed engineer held for fraud

Rent cameras from one website, sell them in another. This was the modus operandi of a multi-State scam, which was busted by the Sampigehalli police.

Kartik Addagarla, 26, an engineer, would rent expensive cameras from one online portal, and sell them on another portal. Through this, he earned over ₹12 lakh but was named in cases in Maharashtra, Bengal and Karnataka.

On May 21, he took a camera and lens, worth ₹2.76 lakh, on lease from Lohit Sontaki through an online portal. Later, he sold them on an online marketplace.

Lohit lodged a complaint at the Sampigehalli Police Station.

Kartik is named in two cases in Hyderabad in Telangana, and one in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Police said Kartik graduated from an engineering college in Bengaluru in 2013. He is unemployed. He took to crime after falling in debt through gambling, said the police.
