Two men have been sentenced to decades in prison for the March 2016 shooting death of 22-year-old Christian Serrano in Wilmington

Jose Moreta, 21, was found guilty earlier this year of first-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, trespass, burglary, reckless endangering and weapons charges. On Friday, he was sentenced to life in prison plus 24 years, according to the Delaware Department of Justice.

In the same killing, a jury in October found Joshua Gonzalez, 19, guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, reckless endangering, conspiracy and weapons charges. On Friday, he was sentenced to 56 years in prison, though the state had asked for a life sentence, the DOJ said.

Gonzalez was 17 years old when the crime was committed.

Serrano was gunned down on the 200 block of N. Connell St. between West and Third streets shortly after 6:30 p.m. March 17, 2016.

The following month, Wilmington police arrested Moreta and Gonzalez for the killings.
