Woman murdered

A 49-year-old woman was murdered by her husband in their house at Ashok Nagar in Lawspet here on Saturday night.

According to police, the victim, Saraswathy, a part-time employee in the central kitchen at Lawspet. was attacked with a log by her husband Arumugam, 53, a weaver.

A family dispute is said to be the reason for the murder.

The police said Arumugam was an alcoholic. An argument erupted between the two on Saturday and Arumugam allegedly hit Saraswathy on her head repeatedly with the log. The murder came to light when the couple’s daughter Mahalakshmi, who visited them, found her mother lying in a pool of blood. Arumugam is reported to be absconding.
