Police watchdog called to investigate a shooting in Summerside, P.E.I.

Nova Scotia's Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a shooting in Summerside, P.E.I.

SIRT's director, Felix Cacchione, told CBC News that Summerside police had called in the team to look into the Duke Street shooting. 

Cacchione would not provide any details about whether it was a citizen or an officer who was shot, nor would he provide any information about the person's condition. 

SIRT acts as a police watchdog. It's called in to investigate any serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, but can also be called to P.E.I., New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.
