Rayudu hits the boundary as Chennai Super Kings go home with 9 balls to spare. An 8-wicket victory and the one which was crafted especially by the opener Shane Watson as Dhoni comes out with the rest of the boys to congratulate his men in the middle. Chennai make it three titles and what a knock from Watson as he remains unbeaten on 117 off 57 balls after defending the first 10 balls. Magical to say the least. This is what fairytales are made of. Champions and well deserved for sure.

11 runs from the Kaul over as Watson looked like he was almost in a hurry to finish this one, before he decided to dead defend the last ball as skipper MS Dhoni broke into a smile in the dug-out. This has been one of the best knocks of the IPL for sure and that too in the final. What an advertisement for the tournament here. The score reads 177/2 after 18 overs. Now 2 required off the last 2 overs.

WHAT A PLAYER!!!!! Watson scores his 4th IPL 100 and his second of this season as the Australian all-rounder once again shows what class is all about. A knock for the ages for sure as he has dealt in boundaries for most of the innings after starting with 10 dot balls. A brilliant innings on the night of the final that has everyone on their feet.

The team needs 25 off 24 balls with Watson closing in on what will be a brilliant 100 on the night of the final. The score reads 154/2 after 16 overs. This is a vintage knock here.

1 run from the Rashid over as Chennai look to play him out and have enough time with the scoreboard reading 33 needed off 30 balls and with the way that Watson is going, this should actually be a walk in the park for the lions from Chennai. The score reads 146/2 after 15 overs.

WICKET!!! Raina goes against the run of play for 32 off 24 balls. But he has done the job as he needed to play second fiddle to Watson and he did just that. A fine glove here as Brathwaite celebrates. But is that too late in the day for Hyderabad? The score reads 132/2. This game is still in the bag for Chennai as Watson is in the middle and in fine flow.

That is just the way Dhoni would have wanted Watto to go after spending time and taking 10 balls to get off the mark. Gets his 50 with a six. While this has been a slow start from the Chennai Super Kings batsmen, they are making up for it with some quality batting in the middle overs here. The score reads 80/1 after 10 overs

The score reads 72/1 after 9 overs as Watson bats on 43 off 30 balls and Raina on 16 off 13 balls. Kaul is leaking runs here aplenty. Time for SRH to strike

The umpires call for the strategic time out as the score reads 56/1 after 8 overs as Chennai Super Kings are well on course after starting slowly. CSK will need these two to put on a good partnership while SRH will want a wicket early.

This could well be the over that changes the course of this game at the Wankhede as the score reads 51/1 after 7 overs

Watson has had enough of this looking to break the shackles and goes big in this Sandeep Sharma over as he first hits a six and then goes straight and hits this past the mid-off fielder. The score reads 35/1 after 6 overs and that is the end of the powerplay. 15 runs from the Sandeep over as CSK now need to go for the kill if they are to chase this one down at the Wankhede.

This is a slow start from Chennai Super Kings and this could be a cause for concern as the wicket is not getting any easier and only will get slower with each passing over. Kane Williamson is looking to use the pacers at one go over here.

WICKET!!!!! Sandeep gets Faf du Plessis for 10 off 11 balls and that was a clear case of the pressure building as Watson was just not able to get the scoreboard moving. The knuckle ball hits the bottom of the bat and that goes straight up in the air and a good catch by Sandeep off his own bowling as the score reads 16/1 after 4 overs for CSK. Not the start they would have wanted here.

5 runs from Bhuvi's second over here as he once again almost opened up Watson. A single turns into five runs as there is an over throw that goes to the boundary. The score reads 10/0 after 3 overs and this is the kind of start that the Hyderabad bowlers would have wanted as they defend 178 in the final.

5 runs from the Sandeep over as Faf du Plessis hits one past the cover fielder. The ball speeds away and nobody moves. Faf looks in good form here as Chennai need the Proteas skipper to once again pace the innings like he had in Qualifier 1 a few days ago. The score reads 5/0 after 2 overs and this is a decent start for Chennai as they need to pace the innings well.

WHAT A START!!!! Maiden to start from Bhuvneshwar Kumar here as he is all over Shane Watson in the opening over of the chase. Bowling it in the right areas and getting just enough movement to trouble the Australian on a wicket that is not the most conducive for batting. The score reads 0/0 after the first over. The game is ON here for sure.

Brathwaite goes for 21 off 11 balls on the last ball of the final over as Chennai go off in a positive mood as Sunrisers Hyderabad finish on 178/6 in their 20 overs and that is a good total in the final of the tournament and a brilliant knock from Yusuf as he remains unbeaten on 45 off 25 balls in a crunch game. Considering the attack SRH have, this should be defendable.

8 runs from the Lungi over here as Brathwaite gets a six off the last ball to finish it well for Sunrisers Hyderabad after Lungi mixed the pace well and gave away just 2 runs from the first five balls of the 19th over. At the end of the 19th, the score reads 168/5 and that looks like a quality score on this wicket in Mumbai which is not the best for batting.

He is taking the bull by the horn on a wicket where the rest of the batsmen have found it very difficult to connect. A spongy wicket is no deterrent for this man as the score reads 160/5 after 18 overs. 2 more overs to go and the match is clearly in the bag for SRH.

WICKET!!! Lungi gets Hooda as the slower ball lands straight into the hands of Jadeja. Lungi has a smile on his face as Hooda goes for 3 and the score reads 144/5 after 17. Three more overs to go here and most importantly for SRH Yusuf is still out there in the middle and can Brathwaite give a finishing touch to the innings here?

Bravo gets his man as Shakib hits a full toss straight to Raina who takes a good low catch as the batsman goes for 23 and the umpires call for the strategic time-out here as the SRH total reads 133/4 in the 16th over. This is a wicket at the right time for Chennai as Yusuf and Shakib were looking to run away with the game here at the Wankhede.

The winners-take-all T20 final, in front of a capacity crowd at the Wankhede Stadium, will see Chennai Super Kings, who are gunning for their third IPL crown, take on 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad five days after their first play-off game at the same neutral venue. These two southern rivals met at the bull-ring on May 22 in Qualifier 1 in which the Super Kings, champions in 2010 and 2011, just about managed to ward off their rivals in a low-scoring thriller after looking down in the dumps at one stage during the run-chase. That victory, by 2 wickets, enabled the Super Kings to enter their seventh final in nine attempts directly, while dumping their Hyderabad rivals to their third successive defeat in head-to-head contests this season. Sunrisers had to travel to Kolkata to book their final berth after knocking out two-time former champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 14 runs in Qualifier 2 last night. While the Super Kings are blessed with a four-day break in between their two games, Sunrisers will be hoping that their winning momentum will help overcome the tiredness of travelling to and from Kolkata and playing their third game, which also happens to be the championship-deciding one, in seven days. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who came up with a sensational 3 for 19 stint last night apart from scoring a rapid-fire 34 in ten balls and then taking two catches and effecting a run-out, had troubled the Super Kings with a 2 for 11 burst in the first qualifier.

CSK got out of the jail courtesy the calm and assured innings of 67 not out from South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis who played the game only after Sam Billings was ruled out due to injury. The Super Kings batting was left floundering at 62 for 6 with Rashid taking out danger men skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo. He nearly had du Plessis too before the latter reviewed a leg before decision successfully and stayed till the end to guide Super Kings home. The talented leggie, who has been described as the best T20 spinner currently by Sachin Tendulkar, again looms as a huge stumbling block for the Super Kings' strong batting line-up. He will also have back up from, notably medium pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul. Super Kings will also be wary about the match-turning all-round abilities of Carlos Brathwaite, the hero of the Caribbeans title-winning contest in the 2016 World T20 Championship. The big West Indian shone with the ball at the death against KKR after his blistering innings of 43 not out here against CSK. Sunrisers will, however, need captain Kane Williamson to get back into the sort of stupendous form he exhibited in the league stage, along with India opener Shikhar Dhawan to improve their title-clinching chances.

Their middle and lower order have not really been firing barring the odd game. Super Kings had depended a lot on their top order of Shane Watson, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu in the round-robin stage of the tournament, apart from Dhoni's finishing flourishes. With du Plessis and Bravo too in the mix, along with Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh and Shardul Thakur with the ability to play cameos, the batting looks formidable. Harbhajan, strangely, was not given a single over when the two teams met in the first play-off game and needs just one wicket to complete 50 IPL wickets at this ground which was his home ground when he played for Mumbai Indians in the first ten seasons. The Super Kings' bowling attack also has a well-oiled look, giving them a more rounded visage. Playing XIs:
