EBAY: A “rare” £2 coin with an Act of Union design has been listed for £500 on the auction website. Coins of this type have a jigsaw motif on them and were first issued in 2007.
The eBay website is a coin collector’s dream, with all sorts of rare coins circulating on the buying and selling platform.

One £2 coin has been listed for the “buy it now” price of £500 on the forum.
This Act of Union coin has a jigsaw design inscribed on it along with two dates: 1707 and 2007.
It is listed by eBay user trishaaa36, who has a 100 per cent positive feedback rating.

So what are the origins of this special coin design? The Royal Mint website explains what the “linking jigsaw motif” means.
The coin reverse design was created by Yvonne Holton and first issued in 2007.
It commemorates the “Tercentenary of the Act of Union between England and Scotland”.
The description reads: “A design dividing the coin into four quarters, with a rose and a thistle occupying two of the quarters and a portcullis in each of the other two quarters.

“The whole design is overlaid with a linking jigsaw motif and surrounded by the dates ‘1707’ and ‘2007’, and the denomination ‘TWO POUNDS’”.
The coin has a mintage of 7,545,000, according to the Change Checker website.
The edge inscription reads: “UNITED INTO ONE KINGDOM”.

The 50p coin is listed by user mrs_ahmad, who has a 97.9 per cent positive feedback rating.
The listing is titled: “Extremely rare coin on ebay 50 Pence Coin - very rare coin Volleyball (2011).”
The description says there are “very few” of this coin type available on the eBay website.
It reads: “Extremely rare 50 pence coin 2011 50 Pence coin - Volleyball. Very very few on eBay.
“Its is in used condition. Three figures playing beach volleyball, with the London 2012 logo above and the denomination, "50 PENCE", below.”
