In a daring daylight robbery, unidentified miscreants decamped with 40 kg of silver and nearly 600 grams of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop at the Barbil daily market in Keonjhar district on Saturday.
Sources said that two miscreants, who came by a motorbike, looted the valuables after the owner of Maa Tarini Jewellery was putting the ornaments in place after opening the shop in morning. The cost of the ornaments was said to be nearly Rs 35 lakh.
Sources said the miscreants fled from the spot by their black Pulsar after committing the robbery.
Police said a case has been registered basing on the complaint filed by the owner of the jewellery shop and further investigation in connection with the incident was on.
