Amir Khan would love to head into retirement after a blockbuster fight against Kell Brook.

Just 40 seconds were required for Khan to knock out Phil Lo Greco on his return last month, as he bounced back in style after an absence of almost two years following his defeat against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Brook watched the destruction of Lo Greco at ringside but vowed to “destroy” the Olympic silver medallist should a prospective clash between the pair materialise.

Khan previously stated a bout with Brook, rather than claiming world titles, was now his top priority, with the former’s deal with promoters Matchroom Boxing boosting the chances of the rivals finally meeting in the ring.

And defeating the former welterweight world champion would be the perfect send-off for Khan, who admits he is coming towards the end of his career.

He told Omnisport: “If you’re going to call me out, let us make the fight then. But with Kell [Brook], I think he just kept making it a joke saying these things. If he really wants the fight then we can get it done now.

“I’ve come closer to him by signing with his promotion, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom promotions.

“It shows that I am getting closer to that fight and I want that fight. So, he’s putting me down saying I’m afraid of him, I mean that’s not true.

“I would love to fight him. That is a stadium fight and it will probably be one of my last fights in my career because I’ve been in the game a long time and I’ve had some big fights in my career and I think by ending it by beating Kell Brook would be awesome.”
