Russia's defence ministry today said four Russian soldiers were killed by militant fire in Syria's eastern Deir Ezzor province.
"Four Russian servicemen were killed by militant fire in the Syrian Arab Republic," the defence ministry said in a statement carried by agencies.
It added five other Russian soldiers were wounded during the incident which took place when "several mobile terrorist groups attacked Syrian government artillery at night.
