Dancing With The Stars NZ: Roger Farrelly falls during dance
Roger Farrelly falls during Dancing With The Stars
REVIEW: Clean up on aisle three.
It's taken five weeks, but we have officially had our first spill of the Dancing With The Stars NZ competition.
After battling "man flu" all week, wee pocket rocket, rocking Rog took a fall during his latest dance. It was shocking, and heart-breaking, but the radio DJ hauled himself back up and carried on - the sigh of a true (people's) champion. Although I'm sure his radio colleagues won't let him forget it anytime soon.

Roger Farrelly's dance last week was a dream compared to this week's fall.
Seeing a contestant on the ground was clearly one of the literal lows of the night, but let's look at some other highs and lows of Sunday's show….

HIGH: Starting with a bang
That opening number was fire. From Roger's crazy legs (was it a sign of things to come?) to the woman swinging on a hula hoop from the ceiling and a bloody chandelier keeping things fancy, it's fair to say the show's opening numbers are setting a very high standard and this week might have been the best yet. Is it because all the celebrities have to do is walk down some stairs? Maybe, but that first minute is fast becoming a highlight.
LOW: That fall…
Poor Rog. Someone had to be the first contestant to take a topple - and unfortunately for Rog from The Rock, it was him. He'd been bam-a-lam-ing it all the way around the dance floor, until literally the last few seconds of his high-energy routine, when all of a sudden, he and dance partner Carol-Ann were flying backwards. On the upside, he handled it like a champ, and even managed to snag a seven from one of the judges. Bless.
HIGH: Simply Shazza
Host Sharyn Casey is a pro. She's the only one on this insane ride that has done it before - and it shows. She's hugely likeable, manages to keep things on track - getting some interesting quips out of the celebs in that awkward spot between judge's critique and their score, and she almost succeeds in keeping co-host Dai Henwood on track. But even she can't turn his dad jokes into zingers. Sorry Dai.
LOW: It was a year ago alright David? Let it go
Over the weekend, we actually investigated how the hell David Seymour is still on the dance floor - because let's be honest, he shouldn't be. Tonight was no different. And while he might be keen to become a better dancer, or raise money for charity, you probably wouldn't be wrong if you thought the MP was only on the show to make jibes and jabs at the current government - but it's lost its sheen. Now, David, please just stop. It's not funny or clever or fresh any more.
Bachelor star Zac Franich and Rock FM Morning Rumble host Roger Farrelly prepare for Dancing with the Stars.
HIGH: Dancing with a message
While her political colleague might be out there spouting "on-brand" lines, Marama Fox is pushing ideas of a different kind. This week? Promoting positive body image, and reminding men and women about consent. All while foxtrotting her way around the dance floor. A dance, she says, was named for her.
LOW: We can not be trusted
After three shock eliminations (also known as the reality TV star curse) the Dancing With The Stars producers have finally called in the big guns - the, uh, judges. Now, each week the contestants will be judged by the experts, then be at the mercy of the voting public, and then the judges will come back into play, kicking off the worst in a dance-off between the bottom two each week. Basically New Zealand, we've been well and truly told we are not sensible enough to make our own decisions. Which is nice, isn't it?
Anyway, since the judges can never actually agree on anything anyway, I'm pretty sure we will still end up with some crazy eliminations, so all is not completely lost (except for our collective decision-making pride).
