Accelerate rallies late to capture Gold Cup

ARCADIA, Calif. — Accelerate, ridden by Victor Espinoza, rallied in the stretch to win the $500,000 Gold Cup at Santa Anita by 41/4 lengths over Dr. Dorr on Saturday.

City of Light, the 6-5 favorite, finished third.
