Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday expressed the hope that Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi would honour her words and demit office by May this year.

Referring to a statement by Ms. Bedi in January last year that she would relinquish office after completing two years on May 29, 2018, the Chief Minister said, “I hope she will honour her words by demitting office.”

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Narayanasamy said Ms. Bedi’s contribution to the Union Territory in the last two years was “not even one 1%.”

The government had managed to get the airport operationalised, made efforts to include Puducherry under the Smart City mission, signed an agreement with Chennai Port Trust and rolled out welfare measures in the last two years.

The Lt. Governor, on the other hand, was interfering in the day-to-day affairs of his government despite the Union Ministry of Home Affairs restraining her from doing so, he said.
