Vernon has drawn Region II champion Rains for its Class 4A state semifinal opponent. 

The Lady Lions (26-4) will take on the Lady Wildcats (33-5) at noon Thursday at Austin's Red and Charline McCombs Field. The other semifinal pits Beeville Jones (36-2-1) against Liberty (29-13) at 9 a.m. 

Jones, the Region IV champion, is making a repeat appearance like the Lady Lions are. Both lost in last year's semifinals with Beeville falling to eventual state champion Krum 9-0. 

Rains needed to win a pair of Game 3s to reserve its state berth. The Lady Cats dropped Game 1 of the Region II-4A semifinals to Decatur, 9-0, before pulling out 5-3 and 3-2 victories on Saturday. 

Region III champion Liberty is making its first trip to state and so is Rains. 

Beeville Jones and Vernon are the only 4A qualifiers who haven't dropped a playoff game. In fact, Jones pitchers Saleen Flores and Aaliyah Ruiz have combined to allow one run in the Lady Trojans' nine playoff victories.

Ticket sales for each session will begin one hour before the allotted session is scheduled to begin. The cost is $7 for students and $12 for adults. All-tournament passes will cost $85 and coaches passes are $45.
