PM: Tainted alliance daring righteous BJP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday came down heavily on the recent display of unity by the Opposition parties saying that only those, who have amassed huge

illegal wealth, are now fearing the law of the land and are coming together to form an “unholy alliance”.

He said on the other hand, the BJP, in a true sense, has become a party representing from panchayat to Parliament and currently having over 1,500 legislators across India and has provided a corruption-free Government at the Centre for last four years.

“Those involved in scams are now coming together to challenge the BJP. Their coming together is not for serving the nation but for serving their own families,” Modi said amid loud cheers from the crowd.

He said at least four Chief Ministers involved in scams are now behind the bars; and this fear of stringent law enforcement has brought the tainted parties together. But, the BJP would continue to carry on its commitment with the trust and support of the country’s people, he added.

Addressing a huge public meeting here at the historic Baliyatra grounds for over an hour, the Prime Minister spelt out the achievements of his Government on the completion of four years in office. Laced with facts and figures and comparative statistics, Modi said his Government’s performances on all fronts have been “noteworthy”, which has been possible only because his governance has been “committed” and “not confused”.

Attacking the previous Governments, he said the Congress was only concerned about a section of the people and ignored a huge population of the poor and the downtrodden.

“Ours is a Government of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikash,” he said and enlisted his Government’s policies earmarked for the poor. “The NDA has delivered on all aspects concerning the aspirations of the poor people in the country,” he asserted.

Starting from blocking the routes of black money to providing a taint-free Government, Modi spoke at length about the Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Mudra Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, rural electrification, construction of toilets and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and many more. On the economic fronts, he spoke about India’s fastest-growing economy, FDI reserve, ease of doing business and India’s outstanding ranks by global agencies.

The Prime Minister also used the opportunity to take potshots at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government in Odisha, particularly on the issue of river Mahanadi. “The Odisha Government did not come forward when the Centre wanted to hold negotiations to resolve the Mahanadi water dispute,” said Modi, adding that the Patnaik Government has itself admitted on the floor of the State Assembly that a major chunk of its share was flowing into the Bay of Bengal.

In fact, the State Government has miserably failed in implementing various irrigation projects, he added.
