Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the two states today with a maximum temperature of 45.3 degrees Celsius, a report from the MeT department here said.
Among other places in Haryana, hot weather conditions prevailed in Bhiwani, which recorded a high of 45.2 degrees Celsius.
Karnal and Ambala recorded maximum temperatures of 41.5 degrees Celsius and 41.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 43.4 degrees Celsius. The mercury in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 43 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a high of 41.7 degrees Celsius.
According to the MeT department, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab until tomorrow while people can expect some relief from the scorching weather on May 29 and 30.
