Margaret E. 'Peggy' Hays, 84, of Rochester, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at her home. Born April 8, 1934, in Leetsdale, Pa., a daughter of the late James Donald and Margaret E. Kimmell Howells, she was a former waitress for many years with Bert's Wooden Indian Restaurant and was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rochester. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John A. III and Evelyn Hays, Rochester; son-in-law, Dale Vodenichar, Rochester; two granddaughters, Karly May Hays Gallagher and her husband Cory, Rochester, and Caitlin Amber Vodenichar and her fiancé Cole Lankford, Rochester; a grandson, Lt. Shane Allen Hays and his wife Nora, Suffolk, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Ronan and Owen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Vodenichar, in 2001, and two sisters, Anna Pauline Price, in 1975, and Elsie Louise Wagley, in 1974. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rochester, with her pastor, the Rev. Gregory Clagg, officiating.
