Oscar, who arrived as a stray at the Beaver County Humane Society in Center Township about a year and a half ago, has had a hard time finding a permanent home. His manners, staff said, are why.
Living at the shelter was stressful for the 4-year-old — whose pedigree is mostly American Staffordshire terrier — and made him act foolish, staff said.
But things are improving now that he’s been living in a foster home the past seven months. He’s smart, learning commands and feeling much better.
Oscar is being crate-trained and learning to walk on a leash. Adopters should be willing to continue his schooling.
His ideal owners should have experience with large dogs. Oscar loves people and would do well in a home with mature children, teens to adults. He likes to be around other dogs, too.
Oscar enjoys walks and relaxing on the couch.
His $50 adoption fee includes vaccinations, health exams, flea treatment and preventive and neutering. An identification microchip also has been implanted.
More information about Oscar is available, and multiple meet-and-greets are required. Interested parties should email adoptions@beavercountyhumanesociety.org.
