Film-making workshop captivates movie buffs

The three-day Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards (JIFFA) being organized for the first time depicting the sprawling potential of State not just promoted the feature films, documentaries on its inaugural day but also honed the skills of budding talents who aspire to carve niche in entertainment industry.

Talent hunt programmes and workshops on film making, acting, screenplay, writing, action and stunt filming, virtual technology, special dance training session saw the participation of students in sufficient number from different institutions. During the first of its kind workshop cum technical session, several internationally acclaimed celebrities interacted with the participants giving them valuable tips on different genres of film-making and on how to expand their creative horizon.

JIFFA is being organised with the much wider purpose to celebrate and promote creativity, film making giving immense opportunities of exposure to talented individuals.

Throwing light upon a few major creative fields, a dance workshop (free style, bollywood, international dance styles) was organized on Friday under the guidance of Abhas Mukherjee. Similarly, settling the curiosity of the participants about one of the most integral part of the cinema i.e… ‘Screenplay’, renowned screenplay writer, director – Sandhya Gokhale guided the students about various know-hows of screenplay writing. 

Gokhale has been associated with some of the big commercial projects like 1942 – A Love Story as an Assistant Director, Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee starrer Paheli to name a few. Besides this, a film making workshop and acting workshop under the guidance of eminent actors Yashpal Sharma, Rajesh Jais and Pankaj Jha was also held at Kala Bhawan Khelgaon on its inauguration day.

According to the members of JIFFA organizing committee till May 25 noon, over 500 requisition letters of students have come for registration. A member on anonymity said that almost all the sessions are full; even then they are getting calls and messages for registration.

Dilip Vatsal who is completing his masters in Mass Communication from Chandigarh said, “I have enrolled myself in film-making session to get first hand information from the experts. Hope the technical session goes as per my expectations.”

Similarly another movie enthusiast from Ranchi, Vanya Mishra said, “Workshop covering different technical aspects of film-making is just an added perk. My aim is to meet the celebrated actors. Also screening of some award winning movies will help in expanding my vision.”

On second day as well taking up some innovative subjects, workshops on fashion and beauty under the guidance of Lin Liashram, an international model, on opportunity on entrepreneurship in media industries by Akhilesh Mishra, Chairman FICCI Media, technical session on prime focus on VFX presided by Stephan Mascarenhas including action and stunt workshop under the guidance of eminent action director Sham Koushal will be organized.

On the grand finale day, a dedicated workshop on ‘Children’s Acting’ for grooming the aesthetic sense of kids is also on the cards along with DJ workshop by Debasish Baruah known for creating some peppy music numbers.
