Outgoing judgesflay Pasha’s criticism

Outgoing Kerala High Court judge P.N. Ravindran has used strong words to take exception to the criticism of former judge B. Kemal Pasha on the court collegium’s recommendation on selection of judges.

Attending a farewell meeting organised by an organisation of the High Court staff on Saturday, Mr. Ravindran, who would be demitting office on May 29, said that it was the responsibility of the legal fraternity to resist attempts by petty individuals to denigrate the institution.

‘Petty individuals’

“Some petty individuals, on retirement as judges, are trying to defame the institution and other judges and it’s our collective responsibility to stand up to them,” he said, adding that he would be more vocal on the issue on Monday.

He said that he had never done anything that was detrimental to the institution.

Outgoing Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court Antony Dominic said that he had only worked according to his conscience.

Chief Justice flayed

Mr. Dominic, who is slated to retire on May 30, was flayed by Mr. Pasha the other day over the way in which he had handled the case against Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry.
