VARANASI: Two
rewarded criminals and a
police constable were injured in an encounter near
Pasipur culvert in
Kaptanganj area of Azamgarh district on Saturday. They were admitted to the hospital. The police recovered two pistols, a revolver, cartridges, a motorcycle and Rs. 8000 in cash from them.
According to reports, acting on a tip off the police launched a search operation in Kaptanganj area. The encounter between police and three criminals took place near Pasipur culvert in which two criminals identified Ritesh Singh and Anurag Singh were injured while their accomplice managed to flee from the scene. A police constable Pramod Kumar also sustained bullet injury in exchange of fire. They were rushed to the district hospital from where they were referred to Varanasi.

Vijay Bhushan said that the criminals carried a reward of Rs. 25,000 each. He said that the police team would be felicitated for this success. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding criminal.
