PM exhorts DCs for development schemes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi before departing from Ranchi to Delhi on Friday sat for extended hours with Deputy Commissioners and officials of the 19 aspirational districts to review development projects continuing over there.

The meeting held at Old Terminal Hall of the Birsa Munda Airport in the evening when the Prime Minister along with Chief Minister Raghubar Das arrived there from Sindri lasted for more than two hours.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Additional Chief Secretaries and Secretaries of several Departments said that the PM directed them to work with focus. “He was particular about the six parameters set to judge development in the field of health, skill development, education, financial inclusion, basic infrastructure and agriculture. The DCs were asked to present their achievements and problems they are facing on execution part. He listened more to the officials before briefly telling them how to go about the schemes so that it can be brought to fore with best results. Special attention was given on fulfilling aspirations of the people along with providing them details about the schemes meant for them,” said a senior official present in the meeting. The PM, during the review, gave special emphasis and inquired about the progress of Saubhagya scheme for power connection to every household, Ujjawala scheme meant for LPG gas connection to poor families, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna etc. He also lauded Ranchi for performing well on cleanliness front.

On their part some of the DCs gave crisp presentations highlighting areas where good works have taken place and best practices adopted along with areas identified where more attention and assistance would been requiring in future.

“The meeting was remarkable and a learning curve for us. We were told to work with full dedication and take full assistance of the schemes also from the Center and the State,” said a DC after attending the meeting. The PM was also informed about special attention given by the State for skill development and farm sector in the form of innovative dova scheme. The areas have been included into NITI Aayog parameters.

As many as 19 districts of the State namely Hazaribagh Ranchi, Bokaro, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Ramgarh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Palamau, Simdega, Chatra, Garhwa, Giridih, Gumla, Khunti, Dumka, Pakur, Sahebgunj and Godda are the aspirational districts figuring into the list of the 115 districts shortlisted all over the country. Importantly the most of the districts are dotted with Left-wing extremism.
