Monaco Grand Prix qualifying results: Daniel Ricciardo on pole, Max Verstappen OUT
DANIEL RICCIARDO produced a crushing qualifying performance to secure his first pole position in two years for tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix.
Ricciardo has been in imperious form all weekend and saw off Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel with a record-breaking lap of the Monte Carlo street circuit
Championship leader Lewis Hamilton will line up in third after crucially splitting the Ferrari duo with Kimi Raikkonen a place behind.
It was a nightmare afternoon for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen though after he crashed out in FP3.
The Red Bull driver lit up the time sheets with a blistering lap of the Monte Carlo track, but ended the session in the barriers.
Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull at the high-speed swimming pool section and sustained serious damage to his car.
The Dutchman's mechanics faced a race against time to ensure his Red Bull was ready for qualifying.

But Verstappen's car needed a new gearbox and the mechanics were not able to do so in time, meaning he will start from the back of the grid in tomorrow’s race.
A delighted Ricciardo said: “It's good. We sent a statement on Thursday and been quickest in every session. The race tomorrow and then we will celebrate.
"There is still a lot of fire in this belly. I've done everything I can so far, let's finish the job tomorrow. I'm pumped, it's been a good few days."
Hamilton added: “Congratulations to Daniel. They've had the pace all weekend and we knew that would be the case.
"I gave it everything I could. I was up a little bit on the last lap but wasn't able to hold onto it.
"It's still a long race ahead of us tomorrow. I don't think Red Bull have tried the other tyres yet so it will be interesting to see how we all go."
