LHPS seeks protection for teachers

The Lambadi Hakkula Porata Samithi (LHPS) on Saturday appealed to the government to provide protection to teachers from the Lambada tribe who are likely to be obstructed from attending duties in Ashram and other schools in Adivasi villages starting June 1 when the schools reopen.

LHPS leaders submitted a representation to Project Officer of ITDA, Utnoor, S. Krishna Aditya on Saturday. LHPS Adilabad district president Jadhav Ramana Naik, vice president Banoth Bikku and Shamlal Naik said Lambada teachers would be reporting to their duties as the schools reopen.

“Our teachers will only be discharging their duties when they report to respective schools on June 1. It is for the government to provide physical protection to them,” the LHPS president told The Hindu.
