Huge Mahanadi rally held at Narasinghpur

A large number of BJD activists and common people participated in the Mahanadi Suraksha rally at Narasinghpur

Activists came on bike rally from Ranasinghpur to the Town Hall ground where a public meeting was held under leadership of former Minister and local MLA Debi Prasad Mishra. Health  and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena, State Cashew Corporation Chairman Muna Khan, MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, MP Prasanna Patsani, Prafulla Singh, observer Subhadra Dash, BYJD secretary Amaresh Pati, block Chairman Chandra Mishra spoke on the occassion.

They alleged that due to unilateral construction of barrages upstream Mahanadi by the Chhattisgarh Government, livelihood of lakhs of people in Odisha has been affected. The BJP-led Union Government has adopted a dual policy, adding to the woes of Odisha people. The fight has turned into a people’s movement and would continue till Mahandi is protected in the State’s interest, they said.

Over 5,000 people of the locality gathered at the meeting place. Among others, ZP member Nirmal Kumar Jena, Narayan Nayak, Prafulla Panda, Krupasindhu Dash and Sarapanches and PS Members of the block were present. Later, street corner meetings were held at Champeshwar and Balijhar.
