Bhopal : International tourist destination Khajuraho and Nowgaon sizzled on Saturday as day temperature touched 47 degrees Celsius on second day of Nau-Tapa.
Bhopal was at its hottest, for this summer, on Saturday. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 29.0 degree Celsius.
Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 26 degree Celsius. Light to moderate rains occurred over South Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh sweltered under the continuing heat wave with hot winds accompanying the scorching sun.
The state’s northwest region lies in influence of a cyclonic circulation stretching from east Rajasthan to Jharkhand. The weather office has also warned hot winds will further sear Gwalior, Hoshangabad, Khandwa, Khargone, Chhattarpur, Raisen, Damoh, Rewa, Satna, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh and other areas.
Heat wave hit many districts like Gwalior, Hoshangabad, Khargone, Rewa, Satna, Guna, Damoh, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Raisen, Rajgarh, Chhattarpur, Shajapur, Umaria, Sheopurkalan, Gwalior in the last 24 hours.
Heatwave conditions will continue to prevail over parts of Madhya Pradesh. The current heat wave condition is expected to continue across northwest and central India.
The Met department declares a heat wave when the temperature during the day shoots up. Hot winds from the west, a clear sky and scarcity of moisture in the air are helping the mercury shoot up. It surpassed 45 degrees at many cities.
