Soil Card helps raise farmers income |
During its tenure of four years central Govt has started many schemes in the agriculture sector. Motive of these schemes is to develop agriculture and to increase the income of farmers. To protect the strength of fertile land of the country Soil Health Cards scheme was launched by central Govt in February 2015. Under the scheme soil cards are issued to the farmers which carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilisers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs.
All soil samples are tested in various soil testing labs across the country. Thereafter the experts analyse the strength and weaknesses of the soil and suggest measures to deal with it. The result and suggestion are displayed in the cards.
Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has given the slogan of Swasth Dhara , Khet Hara. To achieve this motive soil health card scheme was launched for strengthening the soil fertility. The fertility status of soils is the guiding factor for the farmers through which he can use the fertilizer as per need of soil .
With this the cost on fertilizer which is about 50 percent of total cost can be reduced and thereby the farmer's income may be enhanced. This scheme is the component of National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture. According to the Joint Director Punjab Agriculture Dr Jagtar Singh their department is implementing this scheme successfully in the state.
Farmers of Punjab have also welcomed soil health card scheme and getting full benefits of it. This scheme is playing a great role in Prime minister’s commitment to double the income of farmers by 2022.
