I recently learned that certain Longmont groups and citizens are promoting the idea of a performing arts/convention center here in town. I thought it was a great idea, so I wrote to our City Council to encourage more investigation. One of our council persons (will omit the name for now) wrote back to encourage me to in turn write to you. Here is the text of the letter I sent to the council:

"Dear City Council Representatives,

"Thank you for your diligence to watch over and represent the varied people and organizations within our city. I have lived in Longmont for just a year and a half, but I can tell you it is such a wonderful town for me. My ongoing fascination with its blend of resident-types, businesses, organizations, arts, history, cultural opportunities, and creativity continues.

"Recently I have been made aware of an effort by various groups and citizens to encourage the construction of a performing arts and convention center here in Longmont. I think this bears serious investigation and consideration. My sense is that it would be an asset, culturally and financially, to the town and its citizens and businesses. I hope you will proactively consider this undertaking, with a goal in mind of making it happen!

"Again, thank you for all you do to make Longmont a wonderful place."
