ALBANY - A 27-year-old man was killed Saturday morning in an accident at a scrap metal yard in Albany, city police said.
At about 9:20 a.m., officers responded to Ben Weitsman of Albany, 300 Smith Blvd. in the Port of Albany for reports that a man had been pinned under a bucket loader.
Police and firefighters located the man under the bucket of the loader and he was not responding and he was pronounced dead.
Police said they determined the victim, a scrap yard employee, was trying to dislodge a piece of metal that was lodged between the bucket and the tire. Upon doing so, a hydraulic line became severed, causing the bucket to come down on him.
The victim's name will not be released pending notifications, police said.
