Police say one person is dead and Highway 1 has been shut down in both directions after a two-vehicle collision east of Chilliwack on Saturday.
The crash happened just east of Bridal Falls just after 11 a.m. PT.
Lower Mainland District RCMP say they believe an eastbound vehicle crossed into the westbound lane Saturday morning, killing the passenger in the westbound vehicle.
Officials said both drivers were taken by air ambulance to the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster in critical condition.
Drive BC says assessment crews are on scene. The estimated time of reopening is between 7 and 9 p.m.
Highway 7 and Highway 9 are available as detours.
