Melbourne Express: Friday, May 25, 2018

Friday weather

Today should be a clear and crisp lead-in to some weekend sunshine.

Before we get to 20 degrees on Sunday, today will hit a top of 16 with cloud clearing to a sunny afternoon.

How the commute's looking

Metro Trains services are a mixed bag this morning. Most lines are running a good service but there are major delays on the Sunbury line and minor delays for Frankston.

There's a works alert for the Stony Point line and travel alteration alerts for Cranbourne and Pakenham.

We're looking into what's happening in Sunbury and will get back to you.

Traffic on Melbourne's major roads is smooth... so far.

Truck smash leads to sweet potato mash

The Hume Freeway is covered in sweet potato mash after a truck crash this morning.

The B-double truck carrying the vegetables lost control and rolled on the major road near Benalla.

A car then collided with the truck and now police say the soupy orange mess is all over the road.

Northbound lanes are closed for clean up until later this morning.
